Committee given a week’s time to submit its report

Srinagar 01 January : The government on Saturday ordered for the constitution of a three member committee headed by Principal Secretary to the government, Home Department, to look into the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine incident in which 12 devotees died and several others got injured.

The three member committee would include Principal Secretary to the government, Home Department; Additional Director General of Police, Jammu and Divisional Commissioner, Jammu.

As per the order, the three member committee has been tasked with ascertaining the reason behind the tragic incident, which took lives of 12 people and injured several others. “Point out the lapses and fix the responsibility thereof. Suggest the appropriate SOPs and measures for preventing recurrence of such incidents in future,” said the order to the Committee.  

It further said that the committee shall submit its report within a week’s time to the government.
