Advisor Bhatnagar visits construction site of Z-Morh Tunnel in Ganderbal

GANDERBAL, OCTOBER 18- Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar today visited the construction site of Z- Morh tunnel and inspected the ongoing works there.

During the visit, Advisor Bhatnagar was briefed about the current status of the project and the expected date of completion. He was also briefed about the safety features of the project and the manpower presently deployed fòr carrying out the construction works for the tunnel.

The Advisor directed the officials of executing agency to expedite pace of works on the project so that targets are achieved within the stipulated time frame.

Pertinently, Z-Morh tunnel is 6.5 km long road tunnel and will connect Gagangir and Sonamarg and is part of the plan to ensure all weather road connectivity between Srinagar and Kargil which mainly remains closed during winter due to heavy snowfall in the area.

The tunnel will also benefit social and economic development of region apart from boosting the tourism in Sonmarg region as well as Ladakh region.

Later, Advisor Bhatnagar also visited the site of the ceremonial blasting from where work for the ambitious Zojila tunnel has started and interacted with the engineers and other construction workers there.
