JAMMU, DECEMBER 24- The Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, (FCS&CA) Jammu today observed National Consumer Day– 2019 in its Directorate office.

Secretary FCS&CA P.K. Pole, was the chief guest on the occasion which was also attended by Director FCS&CA S. Jatinder Singh, Controller LMD, Neetu Gupta, Joint Director (Administration), Chief Accounts Officer, FCS&CA, Joint Controller, LMD, Deputy Director (Supplies), FCS&CA Department, Jammu, Deputy Director, F/R, FCS&CA, Department Jammu, Deputy Controller, LMD besides President, Consumer Protection Organisation D. R. Danish, S.K. Gupta, President, Consumer Welfare Organisation, Jammu; Yashpal Gupta, President, Federation of Retailers Association, Jammu.

P.K. Pole informed about the enactment of Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and ensured that the same will be implemented in letter and spirit. He elaborated on this year’s theme of National Consumer Day- 2019 “A turning point in Indian Consumer Protection Act 2019″ besides explaining about the new three tier system of the Act wherein Commissions at National level, State Level and District Level are being set up. Besides, a Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) is coming up for speedy redressal of grievances of consumers, he added.

Representatives from Indian Oil Corporation Limited, J&K, presented a demonstration regarding checking of adulteration of Petrol and Diesel at the petrol pumps while the representatives from Food Safety presented demonstration for checking of milk adulteration.
