Mishra Dhatu Nigam (MIDHANI) is having production capacity to manufacturehigh-nitrogen steel (HNS) for armour applications. This steel is planned to be produced in commercial scale as part of transfer of technology from Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL). They have claimed that HNS is having better ballistic performance compared to the rolled homogenous armour steel.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Steel, Vishnu Deo Sai, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
