XpressSAR will buy up to fourTecSAR synthetic aperture radar satellites with associated support services from Israel Aerospace Industries, under a memorandum of understanding.
The deal would cover launches, orbital testing, commissioning and establishing ground operations for the constellation of satellites. XpressSAR will operate the satellites once they are certified as operational in orbit by IAI as a operational delivery.
The TecSAR satellite is designed for high-resolution orbitrap intelligence imagery during any light or weather conditions. IAI says they are smaller, lighter and more maneuverable in orbit than similar satellites in their class.
“After a long review process of the different solutions available on the market, we are excited to partner with IAI to offer a perfect surveillance system from space using IAI’s excellent and cost-effective SAR satellites,” CEO of XpressSAR Wolfgang Biedermann said in a statement.
“With IAI’s advanced satellites capabilities we will provide the most up-to-date radar imaging technology for high quality information. Our focus is to use cutting-edge but proven technology to offer our future customers reliably the highest product quality while still acting as an innovator and market disruptor,” according to Biedermann.
