COVID-19 Update

India’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 37.21 Cr

42,766 Daily New Cases reported in last 24 hours

India’s Active Caseload currently at 4,55,033; constitutes 1.48% of total cases

Daily Positivity Rate (2.19%) less than 5% for over a month

India’s cumulative vaccination coverage crossed 37crore yesterday. A total of 37,21,96,268 vaccine doses have been administered through 48,04,423sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am today. 30,55,802 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours.

The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination commenced from 21st June, 2021. The Union Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country.

India has reported 42,766 daily new cases in the last 24 hours.

Less than 50,000 Daily New Cases have been reported since thirteen continuous days. This is a result of sustained and collaborative efforts by the Centre and the States/UTs.

India’s Active Caseload today stands at 4,55,033 and active cases are now only 1.48% of the country’s total Positive Cases.

Out of the people infected since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,99,33,538 people have already recovered from COVID-19 and 45,254 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours. This constitutes an overall recovery rate of 97.20%, which is showing a sustained increasing trend.

With substantially ramped up testing capacity across the country, a total of 19,55,225tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in the country. Cumulatively, India has conducted over 42.90 crore (42,90,41,970) tests so far.

While on one side testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, a continued decline in weekly case positivity is noticed. Weekly Positivity Rate is currently at 2.34% while the Daily Positivity rate stands at 2.19% today. Daily Positivity rate has remained less than 3% for 19 consecutive days, and has remained below 5% for 33 consecutive days now.

COVID-19 Vaccination Update

More than 38.54 Crore vaccine doses provided to States/UTs

More than 1.73 Cr balance and unutilized doses still available with States/UTs and private hospitals to be administered

More than 38.54 crore (38,54,01,150) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far, through all sources.

Of this, the total consumption including wastages is 36,80,68,124 doses (as per data available at 8 AM today).

More than 1.73 Cr (1,73,33,026) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs and private hospitals to be administered.

Vice President stresses the need for behavioural change in the wake of the pandemic

  • Says, COVID appropriate behavior must even after vaccination
  • Vice President calls for removing vaccine hesitancy among some sections of society
  • VP stresses the need for concerted efforts to dispel fake news, fears and myths among people
  • VP suggests the need to adopt five principles as part of efforts to combat COVID-19
  • VP calls for active lifestyle, nutritious diet and balanced mental health as the way forward

The Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu today called for removing vaccine hesitancy among sections of people and underlined the need for concerted efforts to counter fake news and dispel myths on issues relating to COVID-19.

Noting the effect of mental stress and fear among people, he said that misinformation on COVID-19 and vaccination is a matter of serious concern. The Vice President urged icons in different fields, doctors and others to dispel fears and create awareness among the people on the importance of vaccination.

Phone call between Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and H.E. Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of Vietnam

Prime Minister thanked PM Chinh for the valuable support provided by the Government and people of Vietnam during the 2nd wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in India.  The leaders agreed that both countries should continue consultations and cooperation to support each other’s continuing efforts against the pandemic.
