NAGROTA DECEMBER 1- Saying that holistic development, generation of jobs and maintaining secular ethos remains a political philosophy of National Conference, Provincial President Mr Devender Singh Rana today sought continued support of the people to usher Jammu and Kashmir to a new era of peace and progress.

“Jammu and Kashmir is passing through challenging times and the people have a decisive role in meeting these with renewed resolve to ensure political stability”, Mr Rana said while addressing workers at Jahri (Jagti), Mangah, Dung, Kalgran, Gambhir, Marh and Simblelehar in Nagrota Assembly Constituency. as part of the campaign for the party candidates Somnath Khajuria and Shameem Begum in the ongoing District Development Council polls.

Mr Rana said the party has a track record of serving people and this spirit is needed to be sustained and promoted by uniting under the banner of National Conference, which stands for equitable development of both the regions and their sub-regions with thrust on rural and remote areas.  He said focused attention will be given to fulfill the deep yearning of people with regard to development and addressing the burgeoning unemployment problem. The youth stand pushed to the wall due to the slow pace of recruitment process and shrinking job avenues. This is required to be addressed on priority and fast-track basis, he added.

Stressing on preserving the unity and tranquility, Mr Rana assailed the divisive politics and machinations of elements with vested interest to create wedge between different segments of the society for furthering their political agenda. This is against the secular fabric of Jammu and Kashmir, which can only impede progress and development that has witnessed a descending trend during the past six years, he said while urging the people to vote and support National Conference for reversing this alarming scenario.

He called for isolating opportunistic political entities, saying they pose grave threat to the pluralistic ethos of this part of the country. He said the voters have to make a choice between progressive forces and those believing in myopic politics, aimed at dividing the society on the basis of religion, caste and region. He reiterated that the National Conference is committed to uplift the conditions of poor and weaker segments of society.

The Provincial President hoped that the people will reject the reactionary and backward looking politics by renewing their trust on the National Conference, which stands guarantee to overall development.  Time has come when sagacious voters should stand up and vote for strengthening the grass-root level democratic institutions to transform the rural and urban landscape with participative democracy in decision making and governance, he maintained.
