JAMMU, MARCH 09: As a part of celebrations of International Women Day, the Jammu and Kashmir State Women’s Development Corporation (JKSWDC) organized an awareness programme at Government Degree College, R.S.Pura to sensitize the women about their rights and the benefits of various schemes being run for their welfare.
Managing Director JKSWDC said that International Women’s Day is celebrated as a reaffirmation of the multidimensional roles that women play each day. She also highlighted various activities and achievements of the Corporation which has immensely contributed towards the empowerment of the women.
She laid thrust on the importance of the products and its market availability through the exhibitions conducted by WDC within and outside the state and requested the gathering to come forward and avail the benefits of the schemes of WDC for their self-reliance.
The Managing Director also threw light on the issues related to the rights of women, health, nutrition, Female feticide, Beti Bachao Beti Padao, domestic violence, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and skill development.
On the occasion, the loanees of WDC displayed their products like Dori items, Cushions, Cosmetics Soft Toys etc. The camp was attended by Dr. Sunita Gupta, Principal Women’s Degree College, R.S. Pura, Mehmood Riyaz, Tehsildar R.S.Pura, Deepika B. Thakur Deputy Director WDC and a representative from Legal Aid Assistance R.S.Pura.
