As per information received from Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) viz. BSF, SSB, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and Assam Rifles (AR), the details of operational casualties of jawans and officers during the year 2014-2018 are as under:-

The number of terrorists/insurgents/extremists incidents for the period 2017 & 2018 (up to Nov/Dec) are 1558 & 1622 respectively as compared to corresponding figures of 1872 & 1855 for 2015 & 2016 respectively.
The benefits are given to Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) & Assam Rifles (AR) personnel including Next of Kins (NoK) of those CAPF personnel who sacrifice their lives in the course of duty. These, inter-alia, include:-
(i) Ex-gratia lump-sum compensation @ Rs.35 lakhs for death on active duty and @ Rs.25 lakhs for death on duty, as the case may be, is entitled to the Next of Kin of the deceased personnel.
(ii) The NoK of deceased is entitled to get Liberalized Family Pension (i.e. last pay drawn) under Central Civil Service (Extra Ordinary Pension) Rules, 1939 and other pensionary benefits as admissible.
(iii) 5% vacancies reserved in Group “C” for compassionate appointments for NoK of the deceased personnel.
(iv) Under the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme, amount @ Rs.2250/- pm for girls and Rs.2000/- pm for boys is provided to the wards of deceased, retired and serving CAPFs & AR personnel. Prime Minister Scholarship is admissible to 1000 girls and 1000 boys.
(v) There is a reservation of 15 MBBS and 03 BDS seats for the wards of CAPFs & AR personnel in the seats of Central Government for these courses.
(vi) Central Police Canteens are functioning at various locations in the country.
(vii) A Welfare and Rehabilitation Board has been established for the welfare and rehabilitation of CAPF & AR personnel and their families.
(viii) The NoKs of CAPFs & AR personnel who die on duty are given ‘Operational Casualty Certificate’ on the line of ‘Battle Casualty Certificate’ as available to Defence Forces.
This was stated by the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.
