The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India have accorded General approval under Section 2 of Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 to expedite the forest clearances for taking up border infrastructure works:-

| F. No.-11-246/2014-FC dated 21st December, 2017 | Indo-Bhutan & Indo-Myanmar Borders | Within 16 Kms of aerial distance from the respective International Borders |
| Indo- Nepal Border | Within 15 Kms of aerial distance from the International Border | |
| All other Borders including Indo-Bangladesh and Indo-Pakistan Borders | Within 05 Kms of aerial distance from International Borders |
The above measures taken by Government of India have substantially contributed in reducing the delays with regard to environmental clearances. India’s national security is not at stake on Indo-China Border.
This was stated by the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.
