Kishtwar, Dec 27: Describing the present turbulence within the party as temporary and short-lived, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday said it would again emerge as strongest political force in Jammu and Kashmir.
“PDP is not just a political group but a thought process for the peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue. In a short span of just 18 years, we became the part of government twice—first in 2002 and second in 2015. This is historic that no other political party witnessed such mass base growth in such a short time. But the formation of governments was not our achievement. The biggest success and strength of our party is the start of a thought-process for the peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue,” Firdous Tak, senior PDP leader and MLC said here today.
Tak was addressing workers meeting here today. On the occasion hundreds of workers from National Conference and BJP joined PDP and committed to strengthen the organisation at the grossroot level. Ishtiyaq Hussain Waza, Umar Malik, Arshid Giri, Haji Ghulm Mohi ud Din, Haji Abdul Rashid, Abdul Ahad, Jaffer Babzada, Nazir Ahmed, Joginder Bhandari, Jagdish Lal, Rajesh Kumar, Mohammad Saleem, Sajad Hussain besides senior party leaders were present on the occasion.
The PDP leader said the history was witness to the party’s conviction and commitment towards the masses which paid it dividends in the form of being the largest political force in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Even our opponents, who always talked about iron fist policy to deal with neighbouring country and our own people in Kashmir, have batted for good bilateral relations with Pakistan besides dialogue with all stakeholders to find a way out to Kashmir issue on the lines of PDP’s policy of healing touch,” Tak said.
“They have realized the PDP’s idea that only dialogue and reconciliation process, coined by the visionary founder of PDP late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, would work in resolving all outstanding issues including Kashmir problem”, he said.
The senior leader said the PDP was not a political movement but a people’s movement which came into being only to restore peace and start a thought-process to achieve this mission.
“In past too, several attempts were made to weaken the PDP but this party became more vibrant force in J&K because of its presence in each and every nook and corner of the state. It has a credible audience in all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
The present turbulence within the party is short-lived and temporary which will, in no way, would impact the party cadre. It will soon over and we will again emerge as the single largest political group in the state assembly,” the MLC said adding that the party cadre and workers stand behind party president and former Chief Minister Ms. Mehbooba Mufti.
