Srinagar, October 30, 2018: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference rejected the jibes of BJP and its leadership as sheer frustration caused by the embarrassment that BJP had to face in the recently conducted urban local body elections in Kashmir.

Addressing a meeting of party functionaries’ in block Bijbehara South Zone president Dr. Bashir Veeri said that the recently concluded ULB polls should serve as an eye opener for BJP and its leadership.  “All their claims of bumper voting in Kashmir prior to ULB polls have proven to be wrong. The humiliation that BJP had to face is for everybody to see,” he said adding, “Despite the fact that most of the local parties didn’t participate in the ULB elections, BJP couldn’t do well. This I think is taking toll on the mental disposition of BJP top brass.”

“We need no certificates from a person who represents two and a half districts of our state. Our party is a pan Jammu and Kashmir political dispensation,’’ he said.

He said that the self contradictory statements issued by MoS PMO Jitendra Singh, reveal how far-fetched BJP is from the ground situation of our state. “On one hand they are jubiliating on the recently concluded ULB polls that saw the abysmal pool percentage and on the other hand they have the gumption to question the veracity of our party leadership,’’ he said.

Veeri said that the situation is brimful and the woes of people are mounting day by day. He implored upon the GOI to see writing on the wall and initiate a peace process before it is late.  “Every day brings forth the news of death of civilians, policeman, militants and armed force personnel. The everyday CASOs, crackdowns have made life of people miserable. The need of the hour is to initiate conciliation and embalm the wounds of people,” he said.

South zone president said that GOI should implement the autonomy resolution as soon as possible. “Autonomy affords a pragmatic way out and it will help our state to satiate the development needs of various parts of our state,” he said.
