Mumbai :  In run up to the Lok Sabha elections, the police in neighbouring Palghar district in Maharashtra have issued prevention notices to writers, poet and social activists.

These notices were served under section 149 of the CrPC to prevent any criminal offence in the backdrop of ensuing elections, said a Palghar police spokesperson.

The notices were issued to activists and writers, which include Simon Martin, Marcus Dabre, Janata Dal leader Dominic Gonsalves and Dominica Dabre, he said.

No further details were provided.
